Our fourth most basic of needs – medicine, for which PVC products have again improved our standard of living.
PVC has been used in the medical sector since before many of us were even born. Highly versatile, PVC is light in weight, transparent, has a high chemical tolerance, is liquid and gas-proof and, most importantly, is health friendly to humans. All this makes PVC the ideal choice for use in the medical sector, where standards are known for their stringency. Use of PVC in this sector include such products as amniotic fluid suction tubes, respiratory masks, medical gloves, medicine packaging, saline and medication bags and tubes, blood transfusion tubes, as well as floor covering used in the operation room, where hygiene standards are incredibly high. Virtually all medical equipment is made from PVC – a vital function in the modern world.
