Vinythai sponsoring the World Innovation of PVC usage
for "Cultivating the fragment of Staghorn Coral"
Mr. Vincent De Cuyper, Managing Director of Vinythai Public Company Limited signed the agreement to sponsor the project of 10,000 Staghorn Coral Cultivation and Rehabilitation of the sea in Thailand for 5 years at Vinythai PLC Bangkok Office on July 1st , 2003.
This coral project has Professor Prasarn Saengpaiboon, Rajapat Rampaibhanee Institute, Chantaburi province as the leader work together with his colleagues, voluntary students and teachers from Center of Marine Science Activities and Conservation and Plutaluang school. The marine conservation activities have started since 1994 in the area of Samaesarn beach, Samaesarn subdistrict, Sattahip district, Cholburi province.
The first experiment to cultivate corals from the fragments using the way plants grow started with the steel frame and PVC pipe as the basement for dying pieces of coral to standing the way mimic to the nature proved one truth of rejuvenating and budding the coral can be achieved and PVC material is the environmentally friendly which harmonized completely to the marine environment. Nowadays, the modification methodology developed to use PVC for the whole structure as gain conveniences to local people and children to build up on their own without steel technical skills.
Furthermore, Vinythai is sponsoring the budget for this group to establish the Foundation for Marine Science Activities and Conservation which is one of the dream of Prof. Prasarn since his project started in 1995. Also, the grant has provided to cover not only the cultivation activities but also the research and the youth camp for children to have “real” marine science experience.
As always, Vinythai has contributed to the sustainable development thru the concrete policy of supporting or sponsoring the research or project that useful to the society.
